2015 Audi A3 Sedan
The next-generation of the Audi A3 is destined for American shores will not be the four-door hatchback that we’ve come to know, but a small sedan instead. Audi hopes to win hearts by this unconventional move. In Europe – the reverse order. First getting a look at two-door hatchback and convertible versions, and the sedan is possible to arrive as a 2015 model. The company is already using social networks to gauge interest.
Compared to the current A3, the new model is slightly longer for improved proportions and interior space.
2015 Audi A3 tdi engine
The 2015 Audi A3 will offer three turbocharged four-cylinder engines: a 1.8-liter TFSI making 230 Nm of torque, a 2.0-liter TFSI and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel generating 200 Nm of torque. All three engines join a six-speed automated manual dual-clutch transmission. US customers won’t get the option of a six-speed manual transmission, as the Europeans do. The 2015 Audi A3 will be based on a new platform designed for front- and all-wheel-drive applications.
A natural-gas version is reportedly in the works, and there’s also the possibility of the all-electric A3 reaching full production — a not-so fantastical notion given the current availability of BMW’s 1 Series-based ActiveE. For pure performance, an S3 variant with higher output from the 2.0-liter will also be available.
2015 Audi A3 Sedan interior
The 2015 Audi A3’s interior should get a push further upmarket. It offers standard leather seats, a panoramic moonroof, xenon headlights., Bluetooth, an MMI navigation system, a WiFi hotspot connection, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and even a cell phone booster antenna. Audi’s pre-sense safety system, which preloads the brakes and seatbelts when it senses an impending collision, comes standard, while options include blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control.
2015 Audi A3 Sedan price and release
Audi says the sedan will arrive in dealer showrooms early next year. New 2015 A3 sedan will start at $30,795 when it goes on sale next spring. That’s only a hiccup less than the $30,825 base price of Mercedes’ recently launched CLA sedan. With the Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class growing in size and price, both brands had a hole in their lineup that was crucial to fill with an entry-level model aimed at younger buyers. This means that pricing these cars competitively is essential to their popularity.
