2015 BMW M3 sedan
Detroit was a place where entire car industry was in January. Between many premieres, we finally have information and specifications of eagerly expected, four-doors 2015 BMW M3 Sedan. After month of speculations, we had a look at this vehicle from German carmaker. However, there is still enough time for changes, improvements and final touches before the start of market sales.
2015 BMW M3 sedan – redesign
The 2015 BMW M3 doesn’t lay behind its competitors in using of new materials in building. Use of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic and aluminum in the body and suspension make M3 lose impressive 176 pounds. There are also weight drops in other elements made of these materials – manual, engine and roof. In exterior, we have new front bumper, hood bulge and flared fenders. Aerodynamic is improved with so called “Air Breathers” – fender vents and air curtains mounted in the front apron. At the rear end, we have diffuser with inset quad tailpipes. Style is boosted with new spoiler and 18- and 19- inch rims.
Inside the cabin of 2015 BMW M3 sedan we can see differences from other models. New, M-specific instrument cluster with sporty three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and sports seats are standard, while carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and on the center console makes elegancy of this car even better. Top of the dashboard is equipped with 6.5-inch touchscreen display. For addition, it is worth of mentioning, 2015 BMW M3 sedan features full LED headlights, ceramic brakes and front collision warning system.
2015 BMW M3 sedan – engines
The 2015 BMW M3 sedan will be packed with 3.0-liter inline-six, with twin turbochargers. This drivetrain is capable of producing 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque from just 1,850 rpm all the way to 5,500 rpm. This engine is downsized from 4.0-liter V8 which was used for previous version of M3. However, new M3 gained 11 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque. Transmission will be 6-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, at buyer’s choice.
Fuel EPA rating boosted for 25% and it is estimated for 14/20 MPG for city/ highway drive. This sedan will sprint 0-60 mph in 4.1 second, while dual-clutch units will do it in 3.9 sec.
Brakes are improved, and with it, 2015 M3 will gain some better cornering. New suspension and hydraulic-assist steering will ease the drive. The 2015 BMW M3 sedan will feature Active M Differential that keeps tabs on throttle inputs, the rotational speed of the wheels and the car’s yaw rates in order to maximize traction.
2015 BMW M3 sedan – Release and Price
After its premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year, we are sure that we are just few months away from M3’s sales. However, it is planned to start at summer. We expect a price of $60.000 and higher.
