2016 BMW 2 Series

The BMW 2 Series is a compact luxury car, which was originally launched last year as 2014 year model.  It is available in several body styles and first variants that were presented are coupe and convertible models. Those two models are considered as direct successors to BMW 1 Series and they were unveiled in 2014 North American International Auto Show. Beside these two variants, Bavarian car maker also prepares some new variants too, which will come as 2016 year models. It is expected that 2016 BMW 2 Series will come with new MVP body style variant and also with M package.

2016 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer

This variant was unveiled in 84th Geneva International Motor Show 2014. First units will come late this year, but for North American market it won’t be available before next year, so it is expected to come as 2016 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This model will be the first one from Bavarian automaker front engine, front wheel drive layout. It will be based on Active Tourer Concept and is designed as direct competitor of Mercedes Benz B-Class. In mechanical segment of the car, 2016 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will share many similarities with its British cousin Mini Countryman, also built by BMW.

2016 BMW 2 Series M package

The M version of 2016 BMW 2 Series will use the same F21 platform as coupe and convertible models, but it will be different in many ways. It will have all of characteristics of modern sports car – aggressive look, great performances, extremely fun for drive and, at the end, great fuel economy. Thanks to the use of new lightweight materials, it will be much lighter, which guarantees excellent performances. The new BMW 2 Series will be powered with 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 engine that can also be found in 235i variant.

However, it will be tuned up to 380-400 horses, which will make new model able to sprint to 60 mph in only 4.2 seconds, while top speed will be over 150 mph. The 2016 BMW 2 Series M variant will use all-new DCT semi-automatic transmission. Estimated price is around 55.000 dollars.
