2016 BMW 7 series – Competitors, Release and Price
The 2016 BMW 7 series will face tough competition when it arrives. Among others, most famous and successful are Mercedes-Benz S-class, Audi A8 and Jaguar XJ. Mostly because of these vehicles BMW decided to launch 7 series to compete. This car is not so successful in Europe, but US and Asian buyers find it very interesting and attractive, judging by sales records. However, we expect 2016 BMW 7 series to appear probably on home soil in 2015, at big car show in Frankfurt. Dealerships should expect it in 2016. Current 7 series cost around $75.000, and it is certain that price will go northern. However, BMW announced there could be V12 model as top of the line, so that one could cost way over $100.000 mark.
2016 BMW 7 series – Engines
Since main markets of the 2016 BMW 7 series will be Asia and North America, BMW engineers have to work out on strict emission standards set in many countries. So, various drivetrain options should be expected. There is no any info from company loudspeakers, but we suggest that BMW could go with 4-cylinder as its base engine. BMW’s modular engine architecture recently developed inline-six engines, in petrol and diesel variations.
These options could be modified for new BMW 7 series vehicles. Top of the class models will be powered from V8 and V12 powertrains, as its predecessors. However, we expect boosted performance and V12 could top current’s model 535 hp. Hybrid version of 7 series is also expected, with modules from the i3 and the i8 engines. All-wheel drive system will come optional, while power will be sent to rear wheels as standard option. Automated 8-speed gearbox will be installed, and BMW announced that performance 2016 BMW 7 series M model will be offered to compete with Audi S8 and the Mercedes S63 AMG.
