2016 Chevrolet Camaro
The evolution of this iconic pony car continues. It all started in 1966 and so far, there are five generations of this legend. However, that state will be changed soon – Chevrolet plans to introduce new, sixth generation of Camaro. That seems very logical because Chevy’s arch rivals Ford and Dodge already presented new versions of Mustang and Challenger. It is expected that new model will be launched as 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. However, changes won’t be so drastic, at least when it is about look, they will be more evolutional.
2016 Chevrolet Camaro redesign
When it is about 2016 Chevrolet Camaro design, big novelty is that it will ride on new chassis called Alpha, which is used on models like new Cadillac CTS or ATS. New platform will make new Camaro around 300-400 pounds lighter, which will provide better handling and, of course, better fuel economy. On the other side, the look of new model won’t be too much different from an outgoing model. The difference between two last generations won’t be significant like, for example, between first and second. Although it will have different dimensions, overall look will be very similar to fifth-generation model, so it is right to say that new, sixth generation will look more like some kind of a refreshed current pony. All in all, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will look more aggressive and muscular, but not too much different.
2016 Chevrolet Camaro engines
Just like outgoing model, 2016 Camaro will be offered in muscle variants and in six-cylinder variant. The line-up of engines is still unknown, so there is plenty of room for speculations about possible new engines. It is very likely that we are going to see some 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in 2016 Chevy Camaro as response to new Mustang’s new EcoBoost variant. We also expect that Chevrolet will speed up launch program for high-performance models, just like it was case with new Corvette so expect variants like ZL1 or Z/28 soon after standard model.
2016 Chevrolet Camaro release date
New model will come as 2016 Chevy Camaro, so it will be launched during 2015. Although precise date is unknown, we are pretty sure that presentation of new model will be on next Detroit Auto Show.
