2016 Dodge Challenger
The Challenger is considered as one of the most iconic pony cars in history. It was introduced in 1969 and it was produced until 1974. Many years have passed and company finally decided to re-launch this spectacular car. That happened in 2007, and same model is still under production with only some minor modifications. Current model was very well accepted. Moreover, unlike Mustang and Camaro that are now modern sports cars, Challenger still has that “muscle” spirit of the 60’s and 70’s. After almost eight years of production, everyone is expecting to see next-generation model. There are many reports that redesigned model could come as 2016 Dodge Challenger, but there is still no official confirmation from the company. One thing is for sure, new model is in a developing phase, but we are not sure that it will be ready for 2016 year model. If you consider that 2015 come with several novelties, it is more likely that 2016 Challenger will be carryover.
2016 Dodge Challenger specs
As we already mentioned, we don’t expect to see 2016 Dodge Challenger as next-generation model. It is more likely that it will have pretty much the same characteristics as 2015 year model, which came with some modifications. There are changes both outside and inside the car. When it is about exterior look, front fascia comes with several novelties. There are: new grille with design cues from the 1971 grill/split tail lights, Quad LED ‘Halo Ring” Head lights, LED Tail lights, and a functional hood intake on HEMI models. Inside, the 2016 Challenger will feature 7-inch (780mm) TFT Thin Film Transistor display with over one hundred possible configurations, 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen radio with available navigation, and also a retro styled gauge cluster, but those novelties are already seen it 2015 model.
2016 Dodge Challenger engine
Just like 2015 year model, 2016 Dodge Challenger will come with new 8-speed automatic transmission that replaced 5-speed gearbox last year. Current 6-speed manual will remain. When it is about engines, base model uses 3.6 liter V6 Pentastar engine, but real deal comes with eight cylinders. There are two Hemi units in offer. The first one is 5.7 liter V8 that outputs 372 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. The most powerful engine is 6.4 liter V8 Hemi, which came last year with power increase of 15 horses and outputs 485 ponies.
2016 Dodge Challenger release date
The 2016 Dodge Challenger is expected to come in late 2015, probably with the same price range as 2015 year model.
