2016 Ford Escape

This crossover was originally launched in 2000 and we have seen three generations so far. Current generation was launched in 2012 and it was completely different compared to previous models. Instead of conventional, humble and boxy look, new Escape came with very modern and stylish look. After several years of production, it seems that 2016 Escape will get some refreshments. Beside updated front fascia, it is expected that updated model will also get some new high-tech features. On the other side, engine line-up is expected to remain the same.

Just like previous model, 2016 Ford Escape will use Ford’s Global C platform. It will come with some visual improvements and most of them will be on the front end. New model will get redesigned front grille, which will be slightly bigger, which basically means lower intake. Headlights and bumper will be also changed. On the rear end things will remain pretty much the same, except taillights will get some new chrome details. Interior of 2016 Ford Escape will visually remain the same, but it is expected to get some of new hi-tech features. Just like previous models, 2016 Escape will be equipped with many safety features. Beside standard features like airbags, traction and stability control and anti-lock brakes there are plenty of optional features like parking sensors, rearview camera, blind-spot monitors and cross-traffic alerts.

The engine line-up will remain the same. The base engine for 2016 Ford Escape is 2.5 liter I-4, which produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. There are two more engine options in offer. The first one is 1.6 liter turbocharged engine with output of 178 horses and 184 lb-ft of torque. The most powerful option is 2.0 liter I-4 turbocharged engine which delivers 240 hp and 270 lb-ft if max torque. Each of these three engines is coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission. All three engines have similar fuel efficiency – 1.6-l has 23/33 mpg, 2.0-l 22/30 mpg, while base 2.5 liter engine has fuel consumption around 22/31 mpg.

It is expected that the price will remain the same as for the last-year models, which means that base model will go around 23.000 dollars. According to speculations, 2016 Ford Escape will be available in early 2015.
