2016 Honda S660
This car was introduced on the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show and when you look at it, it reminds very much legendary Beat model, which was hugely popular in 90’s. It isn’t wrong to say that this is some kind of tribute to this iconic roadster. Honda Beat was in production from 1990 and when production was finally ended in 1996, everyone expected that successor will appear soon. All of us expected new model in next few years, but it didn’t happened. Through all these years there were many speculations about new model. Some experts claimed that new model will even grow up and have a mid-size engine, but in 2009 company’s spokesman finally announced that new roadster will come with engine which has a displacement around 660 cc. Few years later, the concept of new model finally was presented under the name EV-STER. According to some our insiders, new model will be launched as 2016 S660.
2016 Honda S660 specs
Just like old Beat model, new 2016 Honda S660 will be produced in Yokkaichi assembly. This small, two-door roadster will be Honda’s new entry level roadster and it will have excellent performances. The 2016 Honda S660, just like the name speaks for itself, will have a 660 cc 3-cylinder engine which will have output of 64 horsepower. It may look humble, but this amount of power is more than enough.
The main reason is 2016 S660’s body structure which main characteristic is extra light weight. Thanks to the use of extra-light materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber, this model will be extremely light, which will provide excellent performances. New roadster will be able to make 60 mph in 9 seconds, while top speed will be over 135 mph. This lightweight structure will provide excellent handling too.
2016 Honda S660 release date and price
We would say that the main reason for launch of this model isn’t only the tribute to some old model. There aren’t too many models in this class of “mini roadsters”. Actually, the only mini roadster available at this time is Mazda MX-5, so it seems logical that Honda wants to establish its own position in this class with new model. The 2016 Honda S660 is expected to be launched in late 2015, with price of 25.000 dollars.
