First “Turbo” mark at the rear end of the Porsche 911 appeared in 1973 when Frankfurt car show hosted promotion of the vehicle which became the fastest car on the streets from Porsche family. That was 2014 year model, and according to stories, 2016 Porsche 911 turbo won’t  top that. However, design from over the 40 years ago and now is astonishing. Huge whale-tail wing sprouting from the engine cover is possibly the highlight.

It is still early to be official from company that new vehicle is coming. However, a video appear as a proof of testing of the 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo. New generation of the sport car was presented in 2012, and since that they don’t record sale numbers as it was expected. With 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo German carmaker will try to refresh lineup. That generation from 2012 is carrying the codename 991, and since then there were two updates released as Turbo S and GT3 models.

Two vehicles have been spotted on street testing. From its design and large side intakes it is clear we saw Turbo model of 2016 Porsche 911. Other one, is clearly Carrera. Styling of the new model is same as for 2014 vehicle with slight modification.  Second stage of 991 project wasn’t hidden under heavy camouflage, so we could clearly see it. However, not too many differences from current model. Head and back-lights were covered, so it is clear that Porsche is preparing changes in that area.

From what we heard, new Porsche 911 Turbo will get smaller engines. Current model of vehicle is equipped with bi-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six powertrain, producing 553 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. It sprints from 0-60 mph in incredibly 3.1 seconds. However, new 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo could get a flat-four from Boxter and Cayman. That could cut output of new Porsche 911 Turbo to around 400 hp. That will be possible disappointment to all enthusiasts and lovers of this sport car. Lowest price for new 911 Turbo is expected to be no less than $150.000, while higher-end models goes northern.
