2017 Honda S2000
There are some big news from this Japanese manufacturer. Honda plans to introduce several sport cars in near future. After NSX and S660, legendary roadster S2000 will be launched once again after some brake too. This car was launched in 1999 and it was produced until 2009. During that time we have seen two generations of this roadster. New model is expected to come in next few years, probably as 2017 Honda S2000. However, it won’t be fully correct to call it a third-generation model, because it will come with many differences in base characteristics, compared to first two models.
2017 Honda S2000 specs
The recently discontinued roadster is coming back. However, new 2017 Honda S2000 will come with many significant changes, so it couldn’t be considered as direct successor of previous model. The biggest difference will be in cars layout. Previous S2000 had a RWD and front-mounted engine layout. The 2017 Honda S2000 will have a mid-mounted engine setup, just like new NSX and S660, so we expect that these three models will share many technical solutions. When it is about cars look, it is expected that new roadster will follow new design language that will be used for new NSX, S660 and some other models. This basically means that 2017 S2000 will be characterized by wraparound headlights, large side air intakes and flared wheel arches as some of the main styling features, which will give much more aggressive and robust look, compared to previous model.
2017 Honda S2000 engine
Since this car is not in production since 2009, it is clear that it will get new engine of latest generation. Big change is that 2017 Honda S2000 will be powered with turbocharged engine, while previous two generations used naturally aspirated units. It is expected that it will be the same engine that is used for Civic Type-R. However, it will be tuned up for this occasion, so 2017 S2000 have over 350 horses, probably somewhere around 365-370.
2017 Honda S2000 release date
This model is still under development and it won’t come in next two or even more years for sure. According to some rumors, it should come in the first half of 2017.
