2017 Toyota Supra
It is known that Toyota and BMW have some joint operations in last few years. According to the rumors, two companies work on the new platform which will be used for new sports cars from both companies. It circulates on the internet for some time that Bavarian car maker will use this platform for new Z4, while Toyota plans to make a big comeback of iconic Toyota Supra which was produced from 1978 to 2002 and nowadays has a status of a legend. It is expected that this model will come somewhere in 2016 as 2017 Toyota Supra.
2017 Toyota Supra specs
It is pretty much for sure that 2017 Toyota Supra will be heavily influenced by FT-1 sports car. It will feature the same design language but with some modifications. Since this will be a sports car, it is expected that most of the new model will be made of extra-light materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber and HSS. Just like its predecessor, this grand tourer will have 2+2 fastback body style, with front engine and RWD layout. However, AWD option is also possible.
When it is about engines, both companies will rely on their units. BMW will probably use some 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. On the other side, Toyota will probably use some V6 engine paired with 6-speed manual transmission, just it was case with previous models. However, this probably won’t be the only variant of 2017 Toyota Supra. It is pretty much for sure that company will also offer this model as hybrid. In that case, company will probably use some already known configuration that is consisted from petrol engine and electric motors, which will be matted to eight or even ten-speed automatic transmission.
2017 Toyota Supra release date and price
This car is still under development, so it is hard to predict some more precise date of its launch. It is expected that 2017 Toyota Supra will come in late 2016 or early 2017 but this is just a speculation. The same source claims that new Toyota’s sports car definitely won’t be cheap. It all indicates that 2017 Supra could cost more than 60.000 dollars, while hybrid will definitely cost even more.
